形态描述：植物体较大，深绿色，或红褐绿色，丛生。茎匍匐，长达4 cm，带叶宽1．5 mm， 先端倾立，茎的直径0．5 mm，在生殖苞下部常具2—3条分枝；假根常生于茎腹面。叶片覆瓦状，蔽后式，上下叶相接，斜列茎上，内凹肾形，长1．3～1．5 mm，宽2．0—2．3mm。叶细胞在周边较小，12—19 μm X l5～25μm，中部细胞22—35 μm X 35—42μm，下部细胞较大，壁薄，平滑，三角体明显，但不膨起；油体少，每个细胞1个，圆形或椭圆形。腹叶小，小三角形，先端钝。雌雄异株。雄穗常具3～4对苞叶。雌苞叶与侧叶相似，但较宽。雌苞顶生，蒴囊较短，几乎包于苞叶中。未见到成熟孢子体。
